Final Fantasy XIV Xbox Players Are Being Banned For Using LFG Tool For Guild Recruitment

It’s been a little over a week since Final Fantasy XIV launched on the Xbox Series X|S and it isn’t going as well as Microsoft would have hoped. Players not only have to jump through a few extra hoops to get it to work on the console, but its native moderation system is also wreaking havoc on the Xbox population.

The system is censoring chat to the point that it’s no longer legible and reportedly banning players for using the Xbox’s group-finding tool to invite players to join guilds, or free companies as they’re known in the game. It’s a widespread and accepted practice on PC and PlayStation but is apparently a bannable offense as far as the automated moderation system is concerned.

Microsoft has yet to acknowledge the issue, but a Reddit post claims that the developers are now on the case, although they’ve yet to reverse any of the bans. We’ll be sure to keep you apprised of the situation. For now, free company recruiters might want to stay away from the LFG tool until the Microsoft comes up with a fix.
