Final Fantasy XIV Patch 5.1 Will Include Changes To The Mentor System
Apparently, mentors in Final Fantasy XIV aren’t living up to the standards and expectations set by Square Enix. With the release of Patch 5.1, the studio will be implementing new and stricter mentor qualifications which will not only apply to players who wish to become mentors but to current mentors as well.
Patch 5.1 will introduce new mentor types and a slightly different set of features for Battle Mentors and Trade Mentors. “Those who achieve mentor certification as a Disciple of War or Magic can change their online status to ‘Battle Mentor’ or ‘PvP Mentor,’” explains the devs. “Those who achieve mentor certification as a Disciple of the Land or Hand can change their online status to ‘Trade Mentor.’ Certification as a trade mentor no longer grants access to Duty Roulette: Mentor.”
Also, in addition to completing 1000 dungeons, raids, or trials, Battle Mentor certification will require 1500 player commendations instead of just 300. The certification requirements for Trade Mentors, however, will remain the same. Current mentors are advised to renew their certifications within the given period to be able to access Duty Roulette: Mentor and the ability to change their online status to one of the above-mentioned mentor types.
