Square Enix To Tack On Sales Taxes On All Final Fantasy XIV Subs And Cash Shop Purchases

Playing Final Fantasy XIV is about to get slightly more expensive for some players as Square Enix announces that its imposing a sales tax on monthly subscriptions and all cash shop purchases starting on June 25.

The amount that will be tacked on or whether sales taxes will be imposed at all depends on the address that you have on file in your Square Enix account. If you’re not sure what address you put in or have moved since your created your account, now might be a good time to check if everything is in order to avoid unnecessary charges in the future.

“Beginning June 25, 2024, all customer transactions on the FINAL FANTASY XIV Online Store and Mog Station, including game subscriptions, will be subject to any state or local sales tax, where applicable,” Square Enix announced. “Any purchases made following the introduction of these changes will be adjusted to include estimated sales tax based on the address registered on the Square Enix account from which the purchase is made.”
