Final Fantasy XIV's Developer's Blog outlines some of its upcoming PvP Changes

Final Fantasy XIV's developer blog has posted an update regarding its upcoming PvP changes. While some of these changes were already known from the latest "Letter from the Producer Live," Letter XXXVI, linked here (Warning, it's over four hours long!), we have some new information coming out as well.

5,000 Potency?!

First up is a welcome change. In FFXIV PvP, there are PvP and PvE skills, with the latter being only available during PvP combat. To avoid hotbar and UI clutter, players would often swap these skills on and off of their hotbars, or set up entirely different UI elements specifically for PvP. Not anymore, however.

Automatic swapping of the UI is now available when entering a PvP area! Additionally, the PvP skill interface has been streamlined to show off the main ten skills players will be using in PvP.

Here are some of the White Mage skills that were showed off for PvP, as well as a glance at the new PvP skill menu that will be available to players. Players with a keen eye will notice a silver-ish border around their skills. This denotes a skill as being a PvP-specific skill, and is different from the usual skills available to players in PvE content - Cure II's PvE potency is not actually 5,000.

Square Enix has also teased its new PvP armor coming in 4.0. On top of that, since players can enter PvP starting at level 30 now, they can also earn PvE experience! A surprising change, to be sure, but a welcome one.
