Final Fantasy XIV's Hardest Raid "Unending Coil of Bahamut (Ultimate)" Cleared After 11 Days

11 days after Final Fantasy XIV's "Unending Coil of Bahamut (Ultimate)" launched, a Japanese team of raiders (Dysnomia) cleared the encounter. While 11 days may not seem like much, countless groups were playing non-stop to be the world's first group to clear the fight. This particular encounter was designed from the get-go to be aimed towards a very hardcore group of players and despite most of the game's playerbase not even being eligible to try the fight (requires an Omega 4 Savage clear), it provided quite a spectacle for casuals and midcore players alike.

Final Fantasy XIV's viewership on Twitch soared after the encounter was added to the game on October 24th, 2017. The megathread for the Unending Coil of Bahamut (Ultimate) was also the most viewed thread ever on the FFXIV subreddit.
