Following Backlash, EA Temporarily Turns Off All In-Game Microtransactions for Battlefront 2
Following intense community backlash, and covered by outlets such as CNN and Forbes, EA's Star Wars Battlefront II has pulled the plug on its microtransactions - temporarily. Oskar Gabrielson, GM of DICE, has released a statement on behalf of the company, stating that "the goal has always been to create the best possible game for all of you." Player feedback has been heard, and as a result, the ability to purchase crystals in-game will become available at a later date, only after we've made changes to the game.
This statement does not offer a lot of details, however. Will purchasing crystals in the future be related to cosmetic DLC only? Will EA say, "Back to the old system we had that pissed players off" after this all dies down? It's hard to say. The only option we have now is to just wait and see. In the wise words of Video Game Dunkey - "It's EA, they'll find some way to f**k it up."
