Fractured Open Playtest For All Registered Users Starts May 28

fractured humans newsDynamight Studios' Spatial OS-powered sandbox MMO, Fractured, will be holding an open playtest on May 28th. The playtest will be exclusive to backers and all registered users and will feature content and improvements introduced in the Alpha 2 build. That includes a number of quality of life improvements such as item stack splitting, the ability to craft multiple items, increased movement speed when on paved roads, and monster attack and damage protection while knocked down. Here’s the official playtest schedule:

  • Tuesday, May 26, 2pm CEST (8am EDT): access is granted to all backers, disregarding the type of pledge pack / founder pack.
  • Thursday, May 28, 2pm CEST (8am EDT): access is granted to all registered users – no pledge needed!
  • Monday, June 1, 10am CEST (2am EDT): the open playtest is over.

Additionally, Proper Death is now live in the Alpha build. Players will now leave a corpse behind when they die. The corpse will contain all of the player’s equipment and inventory items which can be recovered by the corpse’s owner or and other guild or party members. Corpses can also be looted by members of other Militias, a new faction-style PvP feature that has also been added into the game.

According to Dynamight, Militias are meant to “spice up” PvP while they work on the criminal system. Players will only be able to join or leave one of the four NPC militias while they’re in a town. Once they join a militia, they will be able to freely attack members of other militias outside of towns and starting zones. They can leave a Militia any time but will have to wait for three days before they can join a new one.

For Guilds, the choice of which Militia to join or leave falls on the Guild Master. Once a guild master joins/leaves a Militia, the entire guild will also join/leave that particular Militia. Once the criminal system is implemented, Militia member will be able to attack members of other Militias without affecting their alignment or karma. Player-contolled cities will also be able to form and run their own Militias.
