Funcom Announces Conan Exiles, A Conan Survival Game

At the end of last year, Funcom became the "preferred partner" for creating Conan video games. Along with this announcement came the announcement of three new Conan titles, the first of which would be revealed in January. Coming in just as January is about to head out is the first of these titles, Conan Exiles.

Conan Exiles is an "open-world survival game" set in the Conan universe. Like many other survival games before it, it will offer both single-player and multiplayer via private and public servers. Food will be necessary and you can stock up by growing crops or hunting animals. A building system will be in place, allowing you to build anything from a small shelter to a fortress.

One interesting feature the game will have is the ability to sacrifice other players to the gods. On first reading that, I flashed back to being lassoed and dragged across the ground in The Stomping Land. Hopefully Funcom find a better way to handle the capture process than that.

Conan Exiles is currently scheduled for a summer Early Access launch. It will later be launched on both PC and consoles. You can find more information on the teaser site. Be sure to check out the cinematic trailer below for an early look at what's to come.
