Genshin Impact Generated Over $100m In Less than 2 Weeks

PC, Console, and Mobile Gacha waifu collector RPG Genshin Impact has now grossed over $100m in under 2 weeks, making it the most successful launch of an original IP from a Chinese developer. The game is currently ranked as one of the highest grossing games in China, Japan, South Korea, and the U.S. as one of the highest grossing games.

According to AppAnnie the game ranks as the #12 highest grossing game on iOS in the United States, #4 in China, #9 in Japan, and #7 in South Korea (Oct 10, 2020 data). Time will tell if it can maintain these numbers, but the game has already earned a significant amount of money.

miHoYo, the Chinese game developer behind Genshin Impact, spared no expense making the game as its development and marketing budget combined clocked in at about $100M. If it can maintain its momentum it will easily pay for itself and then some, but keep in mind this headline figure doesn't exclude app store fees and other expenses, so net revenues to miHoYo are less than $70m.

Genshin Impact - State of Play Gameplay Trailer | PS4

I've personally been playing Genshin Impact a bit on the PC and am enjoying it so far. It's by no means an MMORPG, but it does have some co-op elements. The game's production value is top notch with beautiful anime inspired graphics and an excellent soundtrack.
