Genshin Impact Won’t Be Getting New Endgame Contents Says HoYoverse

For those eagerly hoping for HoYoverse to finally release new endgame content for Genshin Impact, I’m sorry to disappoint you but that won’t be happening anytime soon, or maybe even ever. Currently, the only endgame activity that players can participate in once they reach the highest adventure rank is the Spiral Abyss and the developers want it to stay that way.

In a recent interview with Gamespot, the developers said that they want to keep the game open to casual players and that adding another endgame instance might put undue pressure on less active players. They also said that their design philosophy is to create new content that will tap into the potential of the popular anime MMORPG’s vast open world.

“The Spiral Abyss is one of the most effective ways [for] players [to] test out their party composition and combat strength,” HoYoverse said. “If we design another type of permanent endgame that is similar to the Spiral Abyss, it might end up creating excessive anxiety for our players – not everyone is interested in Musk Reef.”

“Just like [the] Genius Invokation TCG that we unveiled in the Special Program for Version 3.2, we are also working on designing more interesting gameplay in the future. As an open-world game, Genshin Impact has a natural compatibility with various types of gameplay, which gives us confidence in the long-term operation,” the developers added.

As you can probably expect, the revelation didn’t sit well with competitive players and content creators who have been waiting for a new challenge to take on apart from trying to complete the Spiral Abyss in the fastest time possible. They’re also calling out HoYoverse’s excuse of not wanting to subject players to “excessive anxiety” since the game’s business model takes advantage of players fears of missing out on limited-time characters and events. Unfortunately, it looks like HoYoverse is sticking with its decision, at least for the time being.

HoYoverse isn’t cutting back on its animated trailers though with a new one just released to mark the start of the “Of Ballads and Brews” event. You can check out the new trailer below.
