Guild Wars 2 Catch Up Event Planned For Next Month, Cooking Update & Ascended Food Rolls Out Next Week

guild wars 2 expansion boost bannerIf you’re lagging way behind your friends in Guild Wars 2 or if you just want to catch up with the game’s current Living World season, then you won’t want to miss next month’s Expansion Boost event. From September 3rd through September 17th, players will gain double mastery EXP in a number of maps, specifically Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns, Guild Wars 2: Path of Fire, Living World Season 3, and Living World Season 4.

Meanwhile, ArenaNet is planning to release the much-awaited cooking update next week which should bring it up to par with other craft skills.

“On August 27, you’ll be able to level up your cooking skill to 500! When you reach cooking level 425, Sous-Chef Seimur Oxbone will contact you to check on your progress. Impress him with your skills and he’ll happily write you a letter of recommendation, sending you off on a journey to study with master chefs in every capital city. While you’re leveling your cooking skill, you’ll also graduate to a better class of tools and raw ingredients. Each instructor will help you obtain what you need, from a cutting-edge oven to high-quality meat and garden-fresh herbs.”

The update will also introduce Ascended Food, which basically work the same way as ermm… non-Ascended Food only better. “Ascended food provides a primary stat, a secondary stat, and a passive or triggered effect,” explains the devs. “But that’s not all—you’ll also gain bonuses to experience points, karma, magic find, gold find, and World vs. World experience points. The benefits last for an hour, and every ascended meal is a feast so all your friends can grab a helping!”
