Guild Wars 2 Fan Develops GW2-Inspired CCG

guild wars 2 heroes of the mistThere’s been no shortage of collectible card games inspired by popular MMORPGs. One Guild Wars 2 fan thought he’d make another one based on the world, characters, and lore of ArenaNet's fantasy MMORPG.

Luke Dowding, a web designer and developer from the UK, is the man behind the new collectible card game titled Guild Wars 2 Heroes of the Mist. He writes:

“This project was a lot of fun, it wasn’t easy and took a lot of time. I never thought it would grow to be what it has become, I initially just wanted to design some cards for a game I love. I never thought it would end up with me making over 200 cards, 3 blog posts, all that planning, research, drawing, wire-framing, testing, image cropping, theory crafting, stat building, number crunching, the list goes on and on. If I had to guess I would say I have spent over 50 hours on this project over the last few months. I first had the idea over a year ago and I’m really happy I finally got around to making it. I can’t wait to play it myself and see what other people think of my project.”

The game is free-to-play and can be downloaded from Dowding’s blog along with instructions on how to play. Dowding is also working on a Tabletop Simulator version of the game. Development progress and updates can be found on the Guild Wars 2: Heroes of the Mist subreddit page.
