GWENT's "Public Beta" Has Begun

Following seven months in Closed Beta, GWENT: The Witcher Card Game has entered "Public Beta," which is basically just Open Beta, except perhaps without the assumption that it's "basically released." For those that are unaware, GWENT is the card game found in The Witcher 3. It tasks players with placing various unit cards on a board that has rows that represent the placement of such units in an actual war setup. In addition to simply placing better cards, players can affect the status of their opponent's cards, and even their own, using weather cards that have various environmental effects on certain rows. It's a fairly unique card game and one that has a surprising amount of depth.

CD Projekt Red co-founder Marcin Iwiński had the following to say about the announcement.

Public Beta is an important step towards GWENT’s final release. We’re opening the gates to everyone who wanted to play, but didn’t make it into the Closed Beta, and — at the same time — we’re introducing some pretty significant content and gameplay changes like adding animated versions of cards for every card in the game, new starter decks, or how weather cards work. I’m extra curious how all of the community feedback we’ve incorporated will resonate with both current players and those who’re just starting. Please keep the feedback coming, we’re listening!

GWENT is now available via GOG, the Microsoft Store, and the PlayStation Store.
