Hearthstone Reveals The Details Of The Upcoming Kobolds & Catacombs Expansion

hearthstone kobolds and catacombsBlizzard fans were treated to a host of exciting announcements and revelations on the opening day of BlizzCon 2017. One of these revelations is the upcoming Hearthstone expansion “Kobolds & Catacombs.” Here’s what to expect when the expansion rolls out in December:

Hearthstone – What’s Next?

Discover the troves of tempting treasures that the huge sprawling dungeon in Kobolds & Catacombs holds in store for you when it arrives in December, plus free cards for logging into Hearthstone.

  • Legendary Weapons – All nine classes can seek out their own Legendary Weapons. Each legendary weapon has its own personality, unique power, and reflects the unique character of the classes that wield them. For example, Aluneth is a weapon that is not great for fighting, but it is fantastic for drawing cards.
  • Unidentified Items – These cards provide a consistent base effect, but they also have an ‘unidentified’ bonus effect which will be revealed when players add them to their deck. There will be a variety of interesting and powerful side effects to look forward to whenever players draw them. For example, every time Unidentified Elixir is drawn, it has the potential to turn into one of four potions that add their abilities to the base text on the card.
  • Spellstones – A newly created type of spell for each of the nine classes! Each class has a spell that levels up as the game plays out, starting out in their ‘lesser’ form. Heroes that add Spellstones to their deck can awaken them from slumber, though each one has a unique key – they might be empowered by gaining armor, or casting spells, or overloading mana crystals. For example, as a player casts a spell in the Shaman’s Lesser Sapphire Spellstone dormant state, it improves to the Sapphire Spellstone, which copies a friendly minion for 7 mana. But then after its wielder fully empowers the stone to its Greater Sapphire Spellstone state, it can be combined with a huge minion to summon a powerful army in an instant!
  • New Cards Revealed – Fourteen cards are viewable in the press kit.
    • Minions: Marin the Fox, Kobold Illusionist, Drygulch Jailor, Carnivorous Cube, ‘Rin, the First Disciple’, Guild Recruiter
    • Legendary Weapons: Aluneth, Dragon Soul
    • Spells: Wandering Monster, Lesser Sapphire Spellstone, Lesser Jasper Spellstone, and Unidentified Elixir, Crushing Walls, Gather Your Party
  • Free Legendary Cards —To celebrate the new expansion, all players will receive a free legendary minion, Marin the Fox, on November 6, as well as a free random legendary weapon for logging in when Kobolds & Catacombslaunches in December.
