Hearthstone Rolls Out The Witchwood Expansion And Kicks Off The Year Of The Raven

Hearthstone kicks off The Year of the Raven with the game’s latest expansion – The Witchwood. The expansion centers around Worgen and the cursed town of Gilneas with 135 new cards and two new Legendary cards: Genn Greymane and Baku the Mooneater.

Hush, brave heroes, and take heed; you tread on dangerous ground. See how the light dims all around, and moving shadows creep? The Witchwood calls, but I implore: do not its treasures seek! Stay where it’s safe, pull up a chair, let’s play another round! I see, your minds are quite made up; please hear me importune: Keep your decks close, and your wits sharp…

The Witchwood also introduces new game mechanics such as Echo, Rush, and Curse of the Worgen. “As players venture deep into The Witchwood, they’ll encounter uncanny new cards and gameplay mechanics, such as the eerie new Echo keyword,” says Blizzard. “Echo cards can be cast multiple times in a turn, as long as players have enough mana to pay the price.”

Players can also look forward to a new single-player mode called Monster Hunts which will debut in two weeks. In Monster Hunts, players choose from four new heroes that they’ll use to battle their way through eight encounters in the Witchwood and culminating in a boss fight.

And, to celebrate the expansion’s launch, players who login to the game for a limited time will receive three free The Witchwood card packs and a random Legendary card.
