Is Nintendo Making A Mobile Game For Zelda?

Fans will be happy to hear that Legend of Zelda is likely to be the next Nintendo franchise to see a mobile adaptation. After the success of Fire Emblem Heroes and Mario Run, it would only be a matter of time before Zelda would see its own mobile game.

While Animal Crossing has allegedly been set to release later this year on mobile, sources speculate that the order of releases may still change, with the chance that Zelda might release first. With Breath of the Wild selling over 2.76 million units to date, Nintendo would be smart to capitalize on the Zelda franchise's current popularity for its mobile release.

What remains to be seen is whether Zelda will take on Fire Emblem Heroes's lucrative freemium model, or follow Super Mario Run's "free-to-try" mode with a one-time app purchase to unlock the full game.

Nintendo has talked openly about its reluctance to implement a traditional free-to-play model with its iconic franchises... [However] Nintendo president Tatsumi Kimishima said the company was disappointed with the revenue earned from Super Mario Run. Fire Emblem Heroes uses a more typical version of the free-to-play model, but a Nintendo representative described it as "an outlier."

If the rumours are true, fans can expect more news on the development of their favourite Zelda mobile game soon. Till then, keep your eyes peeled for any hidden gems.
