Just Cause 2 Multiplayer 0.2 Launches Tomorrow

With Just Cause 3 just around the corner, it may be easy to forget that Just Cause 2's multiplayer mod is still in active development. The insane antics of said sanctioned Just Cause 2 Multiplayer mod get a bit more insane tomorrow with the launch of 0.2. It's been over a year since the last full update and over two months since 0.2's beta started, but it is almost here.
In addition to a ton of fixes intended to make the mod more stable, a number of new features have been introduced. Players can now make use of 34 civilian models. You can now render text and other objects inside the game world. Basic Unicode support has been added for other character sets. Steam Achievements have been added so that you can show off your achievements in the mod.
Arguably the largest addition, however, is the ability to script client-side NPCs. AI has been one of the more striking omissions from the mod and seeing it happen in some form or another is quite nice. In addition to NPCs, new weapons or even hydraulics can be scripted. It will be interesting to see what the community comes up with in the near future.
