Latest Albion Dev Blog Covers Shrines and Chests

The team behind Albion Online are working hard to make sure that players know what they are working on at all times. As they approach closed beta, they are using their frequent updates to let users know what is going to change between alpha and beta. This week's weekly roundup focuses on shrines and chests.

Shrines are "open world crafting stations" used to craft enchanted gear. They will come in three sizes, denoting the maximum level of gear that can be crafted there, and three colors, denoting the type of gear that can be crafted there. They will be heavily guarded, putting a unique spin on the crafting process. If you want the high level enchanted gear, you will have to work for it in a different sort of way. The team mention in the post that "you better bring some support," meaning that enchanting trips will likely turn into group efforts with multiple players that need things enchanted grouping up for success.

Treasure chests have are now also spread randomly across the world. Like the shrines, they will come in three sizes, denoting their reward, and will be guarded equivalently to their reward. The largest chests will even spawn in castles for the greatest of challenges. There is incentive to go after them, too. High tier crafting materials will be found inside.
