League of Legends estimates 100 million players log-in to Summoner's Rift each month, as the game celebrates its 10 year anniversary, according to an article on Polygon. League is the behemoth of the industry, the Godzilla you can't help but root for as it stomps on every other game.

To gain some perspective, DOTA 2 had about 10 million players in the last 2 weeks according to SteamSpy—a guesstimated 20 million in one month. Or you can look at this way:100 million players means about 1/70th of the world's population plays League of Legends—if I had a dollar for every League of Legends player I wouldn't be writing this article.

Almost every person I know has played League of Legends at least once, including myself even though I'm not a fan. It's pervasive. And I can remember the first time I realized it was blowing up: when I overheard strangers loudly proclaiming their love for League in a crowded Sports bar.

A 10 year anniversary video was released to celebrate League of Legends, which you can view below. And a League of Legends art book was recently released to commemorate the game's universe, a portion of which can be viewed online.

While League remains Riot Games only game for now, there are employees at the studio working on top secret projects. Whether or not they release is another story.

What could be next from Riot? A League of Legends companion app? A one-button 2D fighting game? A League of Legends themed taxes-made-easy app? I don't know. Whatever it is, it will make waves when it releases.
