Line of Defense MMO Goes Back On Sale In Preparation For "Major Release"

Following a brief period of time where it was unavailable, 3000AD's MMOFPS Line of Defense is now back on sale through Steam. The return to sale comes after "popular request." Due to the nature of their beta phase, where the team are "not doing an open public beta test," you cannot currently play for free. Instead, you must pay at least $9.99 for the "Starter Kit" package that comes without a "Tactical Advancement Kit." The Starter Kit offers only the ability to play. This purchase will be permanent regardless of whether the final game is free-to-play or not.

Update: Derek Smart has since informed me on Twitter that this is to coincide with a "major release" occurring soon.

This release will include the release of vehicles and aircraft, including multi-crew craft. You will need a Combat Training Certificate to access vehicles. If you have one, you can use a supply platform to access them instantly. Alternatively, you can obtain an "asset-lock key" to allow you to spawn an asset—like a vehicle—anytime you want. If you don't use a vehicle for a certain amount of time, it will despawn.

This update will also mark the beginning of asset improvements. I've included an image of one of the revised cockpit models below.
