Lord Of The Rings Online Shuts Down Anor And Starts Testing New Race/Class Combos
Standing Stone Games has shut down Lord of the Rings Online’s Anor legendary server after four years of operation. Anor first opened its doors in 2018 as the MMORPG’s first time-gated progression server, running through almost all of LOTRO’s currently available expansions within its lifetime except for Fate of Gundabad.
The journey doesn’t there though, as players will be able to transfer their Anor characters and all shared items to any of the regular servers until the end of the year. Players who purchased Premium Housing on the server will also get a full refund by selling it prior to transferring their characters. Guild leaders are also advised to abandon or sell their Kinship houses before August 31st to be able to transfer their characters.
“Players have through December 31st, 2022 to transfer their characters and shared items from Anor. After that time characters and items will no longer be transferrable, and customer support will not be able to assist players in recovering those characters or items,” said Standing Stone.
For those who want to join another progression server, the Treebeard and Shadowfax servers are still available although you’d have to start from scratch upon joining them.
Meanwhile, Standing Stone has started testing new race/class combinations along with the upcoming changes coming to the Minstrel class as Update 33.2 goes live on the Bullroarer server. The update will be available for testing until Thursday featuring nine new race/class combos and various adjustments to player vs. monster content and legendary item reward track progression.
As for the Minstrel class, players can expect a huge lineup of changes to the support class including the removal of the Protector of Song trait tree and making it a passive tree instead.
“You’ll still be able to specialize in the other two trait trees, and the yellow tree isn’t going anywhere! While you won’t be able to choose yellow as your specialization, it is still full of exciting stuff. For most players, this means you’ll be able to access unique skills like Song of Aid and Call to Greatness while specializing in either ‘The Watcher of Resolve’ or ‘The Warrior-Skald’ trait lines,” the studio explained.
