Lord Of The Rings Online Serves Up A Buffet Of New Instances As Update 39 Goes Live

Lord of the Rings Online opened up a brand-new set of instances for its Corsairs of Umbar expansion as Update 39: Arenas of Conflict officially goes live. The update features the final Umbar instances which include the Isle of Storms, Dahâl Huliz, The Arena, The Streets of Râhal Bakh, and The Depths of Mâkhda Khorbo raid.
The Isle of Storms is a three-player instance that pits players against a massive winged creature called the Roc. The description will likely evoke images of Dwayne Johnson in a tooth fairy costume but the creature is actually based on a legendary bird of prey of the same name from Middle Eastern mythology and stories like Sinbad the Sailor.
The Streets of Râhal Bakh is another three-player instance that tasks players with hunting down Indagir, a.k.a. Khâshap, to stop him from delivering a deadly potion to his master, while Dahal Huliz, The Arena is a six-player instance where players will face off against various enemies in a gladiator pit.
The final instance is the new Depths of Mâkhda Khorbo 12-person raid with three tiers of difficulties and is set in an underground labyrinth leading to the titular temple ruins. Tier 1 is now live, while Tier 2 and Tier 3 will be unlocked on March 21.
“After the confrontation in the Citadel of Winds, the ship bearing Azagath, Belondor, and Nakási, Reaper of the Waves sails north-west into the shadow cast by the Mâkhda Khorbo,” reads the raid’s lore description. “Pursuing the trio, you enter the depths of a long-hidden cavern leading through dank, twisting passages ending at an iron-wrought gate. The smells of the sea, iron, and ash assail you as you press deeper beneath the land and closer to the remnants of the temple ruins.”
Delvings have also been expanded to include most of the missions in Elderslade which offer new rewards with Mother Goose-inspired names like the Tome of the Adorable Sand Worm and the The Tome of the Grabby Crab. You can dive into the full patch notes on the Lord of the Rings official site.
