Lost Ark Closed Beta Features Detailed

Lost Ark's Closed Beta sign-up page went live today, but unless you live in South Korea, it won't mean much to you, as the website has an IP block in place and you would need an I-pin or Korean cell phone in order to sign up anyways. Arguably more importantly is the set of features that have been confirmed for Closed Beta. Unfortunately, reaching the website is difficult at this time, but MMOCulture has provided a translation of the confirmed features.

Contrary to earlier reports, Lost Ark will feature four archetypes—Fighter, Gunner, Magician, and Warrior—each of which will consist of several playable classes. The Battlemaster and Infighter will fall under the Fighter archetype, the Blaster and Devil Hunter will fall under the Gunner archetype, the Bard will fall under the Magician archetype, and the Berserker and Warlord will fall under the Warrior archetype.

The "Tripod System" will allow players upwards of four upgrade choices for each skill at skill levels 4, 7, and 10. This system will allow players to customize their characters somewhat.

All gear will feature unique abilities, granting the wearer bonuses that you might expect that piece of armor to grant. For example, wearing miners' gear will grant players mining bonuses whereas wearing sailors' gear will allow you to sail your ship faster.

Fishing, the gathering of plants, lumbering, and mining are all considered to be "life skills."

The confirmed world map includes starter zones for the Fighter, Gunner, and Warrior archetypes, each on their own continent. A separate island continent appears to contain the bulk of the content.

Two trap-filled dungeons, the underground dungeon Morai Ruin and the tomb dungeon King's Grave, have been confirmed for Closed Beta. Hidden dungeons that require players to follow clues on a map to find them will also be included.

The raid that requires players to use ballistae when fighting the boss is known as the Guardian raid and it has been confirmed for Closed Beta.

The Sylian's Command event will allow players to work together to fight off a demon invasion, the details of which are sparse. Players can then take on the Chaos Gate, which allows them to enter the realm of the attacking demons, strike back at them, and destroy the Chaos Gate before they can invade again.

The Colosseum has also been confirmed for Closed Beta. During this first test, only a 3v3 mode will be available, but others will be added in the near future.

Side quests and musical instruments are also mentioned briefly.

Lost Ark's first Closed Beta test begins on August 24th. The test will be exclusive to South Korea.
