Mad World Is Revamping Progression, Equipment, And Zones In This Week’s Update

Mad World is due for a big balance patch this week which will focus on improving the leveling experience and rewards for players of the 2D grimdark MMORPG. Of significant note is the removal of the so-called “jumping zones”, level 35-40 zones that have been a source of progression and balance issues since launch day.

To account for the removal of the said zones, Jandisoft will be tweaking XP and gold gains and will be adjusting equipment and monster stats for subsequent levels. All level 40 equipment and above will have their attack and defense stats nerfed while monsters will see a reduction in their health and defense to balance things out.

According to the studio, the goal is to provide a seamless gameplay experience without the issues posed by the jumping zones. Equipment in general will also be revamped to offer more variety when it comes to attack, defense, and support stats to give players more equipment choices to better complement their respective builds.

Item drop rates will also be reduced at lower levels but will see a significant increase in the later stages of the game to give players a better chance to obtain better and more useful rewards for completing more difficult content. Additionally, gold drop rates will be reduced throughout the entire game but the amount of gold obtained from individual drops will be increased to address frame rate drops caused by more frequent but smaller gold drops.

The update will also adjust XP gains and reduce the required XP to level up to minimize grinding between levels, particularly at the level 70-80 range. The changes should provide a smoother leveling experience for players while also reducing reliance on repeated dungeon runs to level up.

The balance update is expected to arrive on October 12th. As for the promised Steam client, there’s still no word on when it will be coming out. The patch notes are now up on the Mad World official site if you want to browse through the upcoming changes.
