Dead By Daylight Devs Announce New Building Strategy Game Meet Your Maker
Behaviour Interactive, the studio behind asymmetric PvP horror game Dead by Daylight, has announced a new first-person building strategy game called Meet Your Maker. The ominously titled game will drop players into the post-apocalyptic wastelands of a dying Earth where they must build fortified outpost while raiding others to collect genetic material for an artificial being called the Chimera, the last hope of survival for what remains of humanity.
“Meet Your Maker is a post-apocalyptic first-person building-and-raiding game where every level is designed by players. Switch between roles as you mastermind devious maze-like Outposts filled with traps and guards, then gear up for methodical fast-paced combat raiding other players’ creations.”
Both building and raiding can be taken on either solo or as a team of two. Players will be able to use customizable building blocks to create the Outposts and make them as impenetrable as they can by laying down various traps and placing simple AI-controlled guards. The raiding part of the game is asynchronous which means that you won’t be there to see when your Outpost gets raided but you can watch the entire raid afterwards so you can adjust and modify your defenses for future attacks. Think Clash of Clans but in full 3D.
On the flip side, successful raids will reward you with new building block, resources, and upgrades that you can use to fortify your Outpost even further.
“The game is built on UGC [user-generated content] and creates deep social connections, whether you play alone or co-op,” said Creative Director Ash Pannell. “As a builder, share your meticulously built Outpost and watch other players take them on via our replay system. It never gets old to watch others die. You’ll reap rewards and learn how to strengthen your creation. As a raider, you’ll try, die, retry, and eventually gain the knowledge to extract that Genmat and exit victoriously. In both cases, it’s highly entertaining and always fun to watch.”
Meet Your Maker is scheduled to launch sometime in 2023, although selected players will be able to jump in sooner during the game’s first closed beta test on August 23rd. Those who’d like to participate in the playtest can sign-up on the game’s official website for a chance to score an invite.
