The dust has settled on BitCraft’s second closed alpha test, and Clockwork Labs is singing a triumphant tune. With 6,452 players carving their names (and empires) into the vast world, the test was a smashing success, thanks in no small part to a brand-new feature: Empires!

Clockwork reports that a whopping 50 empires rose during the test, showcasing the upcoming sandbox MMORPG’s potential for large-scale, player-driven structures that will shape the future of BitCraft. “The Empire System offers players a unique way to make a lasting impact on the world map,” says Clockwork Labs in their September Letter from the Producer.

But empires weren’t the only stars of the show. Clockwork Labs is also celebrating five successful weeks of server uptime, where players tested out quality-of-life improvements to storage, farming, and other essential mechanics. Trading systems, solo play experiences, biome diversity, and further refinement of the empire system itself are also all on the development roadmap.

The next phase of testing, dubbed “Adversity,” promises to crank up the difficulty and test your survival skills even further. Clockwork Labs is determined to create a world where cozy cooperation thrives alongside the thrill of exploration and resource gathering.

“It will focus on bringing a sense of adversity and skill expression to the world and activities, as well a focus on fixing long standing issues preventing the player driven economy from getting off the ground and having claim costs/maintenance getting in the way or your progression,” the studio explains. “Ultimately we want to offer players the option to enjoy a cozy game experience in the safety and comfort of their communities while also presenting challenges for the adventurers, explorers and prospectors who hear the call of the wild.”

Whether you crave a peaceful life amidst your community or yearn for the wilderness challenges, BitCraft is aiming to deliver a world with something for everyone.
