The FTC Has Filed A Complaint Against Microsoft Following Last Month’s Layoffs

The US Federal Trade Commission has filed a complaint against Microsoft, claiming that it violated the terms of its merger agreement with Activision Blizzard. According to the FTC, Microsoft previously stipulated that there would be no layoffs following the acquisition but then proceeded to do just that when it laid off 1900 employees across its gaming division.

The FTC, of course, has always been against the deal right from the start and had tried to block the merger up until it was finalized. If its most recent complaint bears fruit, Microsoft may be forced to cut ties with Activision Blizzard or at least part of the game developer and publisher.

It’s worth noting that the FTC’s previous complaints all proved to be unsuccessful, but that was before Activision Blizzard officially became part of the Microsoft umbrella. There’s also no denying the fact that Microsoft laid off Activision Blizzard employees despite its earlier assurances.
