Mist Legacy Is A New Early Access 2D Classic Turn-Based Open-Class MMORPG

Mist Legacy is a new 2D classic turn-based MMORPG from a small two-man indie studio called Virtys. The game is currently in Early Access on Steam and promises a “pure RPG” experience with no classes, an open skill system, and turn-based combat set in a vast top-down fantasy world.

“Experience the world of Myriaden via a top-down view that brings every character and dungeon to life with unique storybook qualities. Forget about jumping, climbing, and so on. This is a pure RPG, where every action you make is based on the skills you have (or don’t).”

The game plays like a tabletop board game where players will be able to move game piece-like avatars when exploring the game world, which immediately switches to the classic RPG turn-based view during encounters. The skill-based progression system gives players the flexibility to select and improve any skill they want depending on their playstyle. They can also team up with up to four other players to form a party or recruit NPCs if they’d rather play solo.

Skill-based progression also applies to the game’s crafting system which has no fixed blueprints and entirely dependent on what skills players have and their proficiency in those skills. Leveling up your wood working skills, for example, will allow you to construct wooden structures while focusing on stone working skills will allow you to build stone buildings. Gems, stones, fabrics, and other resources can be freely combined to create a variety of items, from consumables, to gear, to construction modules.
