Frostbite Fortress, Ascended Raids & Progression Cuts Hit Throne and Liberty

NCSoft and Amazon Games are pushing a substantive mid-cycle update to Throne and Liberty - the free-to-play MMORPG - tonight, adding a named 12v12 PvP mode, four new guild raids gated at Guild level 30, a fresh Dimensional Trial, and a round of progression relief targeting Trait and Resonance systems. Downtime is scheduled for 10:30 PM PT for three hours.

The PvP headliner is Seal Battle: Frostbite Fortress, a matchmade mode where teams race to carry relics to the enemy altar and seal them twice within ten minutes. Two Disruptor mechanics keep matches from settling - Air Raid triggers with a certain probability when a player picks up a relic, while Blitz spawns periodically near the center to force skirmishes. A five-minute overtime kicks in if neither team reaches the win condition. Seal Battle joins the Battlegrounds rotation Wednesday through Saturday; Conquest runs Sunday through Tuesday across Giant's City and Floating Elf Garden, marking the start of Battlegrounds Season 2.

Guild Raids and Progression Changes

Guilds that have hit level 30 unlock four new Ascended raids with this patch: Ascended Daigon, Ascended Leviathan, Ascended Pakilo Naru, and Ascended Manticus. The Frostbreath Cave Dimensional Trial also goes live, and Nix' Tumgir Vault is being redesigned as a hunting ground running on Abyss Points with a denser monster population.

  • Trait and Resonance growth: Reduced requirements for both systems, along with lower Sollant fees for Trait Resonance stone crafting and Resonance unlocks
  • Crafting material quantities: Reduced for select items, and Material Transmutation gets Trait Unlock item exclusions plus new filter settings
  • Co-play rewards: Extra loot for completing co-op content, dungeons, and raids alongside new or returning players
  • Gauntlets balance: Adjustments to the weapon class introduced with The Frozen Divide expansion, which also raised the level cap
  • Quality of life: Detailed tooltip toggle, equipment level display in character info, and a new trait material context menu

The progression cuts here follow a pattern the game has been running - compress the mid-grind, keep the ceiling meaningful. Four guild raids landing simultaneously is the more significant signal: organized guilds now have a denser PvE schedule to run alongside siege commitments, which should separate active guilds from roster-padders fairly quickly. Watch whether smaller guilds can reliably field the level 30 requirement or whether the raids become another resource concentrating at the top.
