The Pirate: Caribbean Hunt Proves Mobile Ports Can Perform Well On Steam

The Pirate: Caribbean Hunt was originally released for Android and iOS devices, but it's recent Steam release proves mobile ports can perform well on Steam. "Well" is a relative term, but a "Mostly Positive" review score and uptick on SteamCharts tells me mobile games can meet the demands of both PC players and mobile enthusiasts.

And I only feel the need to mention this due to frequent comments such as "mobile developers are ruining the industry," and "I hate mobile games. I'll never play one." But I bet, some people have played a mobile game without realizing what they were doing.

Caribbean Hunt is not the first, nor last, mobile port on Steam. Magic Duels has a comfortable 3.1K playerbase, while Gems of War sits at 1.4k on average.

The backlash perception of mobile gaming as a virus is fading. Some games may always seem tacky (casual), e.g. Candy Crush. But very soon, there will be little difference between mobile and PC, and games will be viewed solely on their merits, not their original design or intention.
