Neowiz, Studio Behind Bless, Enters Blockchain Gaming with 2 New Games: Golf Impact and Brave Nine

Neowiz, the South Korean gaming company best known for Bless Online, announced today their foray into blockchain gaming with 2 new game announcements: Golf Impact and Brave Nine. Both titles bill themselves as 'Play & Earn Games', meaning players will supposedly be able to earn valuable crypto currency simply by playing the games. Neither of these two games are 'new' but will be getting revamped with blockchain features in early to mid 2022.

Brave Nine already has 5 million downloads globally and is getting new blockchain based play to earn systems sometime in mid 2022 (Q2 2022). Brave Nine, on the surface, looks like a traditional gacha mobile RPG and while that in and of itself isn't unique, the blockchain elements will definitely interest some users. After all, just look at how wildly successful Mir4 has been on Steam.

Crypto Golf Impact is a total revamp of the original hit mobile game that's being re-built with crypto features. The game is advertised as the 'first golf play-to-earn game and is set to launch in March 2022.

While we've heard quite a bit of buzz about 'blockchain gaming' and 'play to earn' games, from relatively obscure crypto gaming companies, it's interesting to see more traditional game developers embracing the concept.

I remain skeptical on the 'play to earn' concept, but there's no doubt there's a huge interest in this kind of game at the moment. Most play to earn games require a constant stream of new players for the game's cryptocurrency to maintain any kind of value and the long term value of any play to earn token remains unclear.
