Update: Funcom announced after the trailer was released that Conan Exiles will be entering Early Access on September 13th. In the meantime, you can head over to the Steam store page, wishlist it, and stare longingly at the new screenshots.

Funcom CEO Rui Casais had the following to say about the announcement.

We’re very excited (and a bit nervous) about launching our first Early Access title. The team wants to give the players the best possible experience, and while we are used to working on a game for several years before letting players in, this time around we will let players in just nine months after development started! As with any Early Access games, some features and content will be more finalized than others, and players will be able to help us focus on what’s important to them so that we can improve the game and flesh out content and systems before full launch.

The original article is as follows.

As Conan Exiles is said to be hitting Early Access this summer, it's high time we saw some gameplay footage, isn't it? Funcom delivered today with a trailer showcasing a full minute of varied gameplay. Get a brief look at people blowing up walls, building houses, summoning snakes, brandishing swords at each each other, and being lopped in half. We don't get the clearest picture of how the game's combat system will work, but we get a fairly good idea of what we will be doing in the game's wastelands.

Compared to many other survival games, it looks fairly polished. From the walls that shatter into hundreds of pieces to the trails left in the sand when players walk, only to have the wind carry small bits of displaced sand out of them, the game looks to be a cut above most of what we see in the genre. Let's all hope it plays as well as it looks to.
