New World Blocks Players From Russia And Belarus Due To ‘Technical And Other Restrictions’

Amazon Game Studios has blocked Russian and Belarusian players from accessing New World. Presumably, the move is in response to the IGDA’s call to protest Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. We say presumably because the studio has failed to explicitly state this, citing “technical and other restrictions” as the reason behind the IP block.

“Due to technical and other restrictions, the game is available only in certain locations. Unfortunately, we are unable to provide you with access from your current location. Thank you for your understanding.” wrote Community Manager Luxendra in response to questions on the official forums.

The thread is heavily moderated as global politics can be a very sensitive subject especially with the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. The New World subreddit, however, is allowing free discussion should you wish to drop your two cents on the subject.
