The New World dev team is back with a new Forged in Aeternum Q&A episode where they tackle burning questions about their development process following Season of the Guardian’s rocky launch last month. One of the biggest questions is how bugs that were reported during testing still manage to make it to the live release which the team chalked up to trial and error.

Game Director Scot Lane also expressed their desire to regain the community’s trust by making sure that they roll out quality updates from here on end. “The only way we’re going to do it is by putting out quality releases that you all like,” he said. “I can tell you that we failed differently on this last one than the one before. We won’t fail this way again. But anything I say is not going to make you trust us. It’s going to be when we put interesting software in your hand that is on time and works.”

For Season of the Guardian, Lane explains that they were trying to fix the already delayed update two ways at the last minute which caused its own unexpected problems. He, however, promises that they’re continually working to improve their quality assurance process as they try to find a balance between getting updates out on schedule and ensuring that they’re perfect.

“We want to see this whole thing come together in a bug-free polish manner,” Creative Director Davide Verfaille added.

The team also revealed plans to open new fresh start servers and touched on repeatable vs. story-based content, endgame PvP, territory mechanics, artifacts, and gearscore updates. You can watch the full Q&A video below.
