New World: Season of the Guardian Delayed Indefinitely To Address Tester Feedback
MMO players are going to be busy next week as some of the most popular MMOs prepare to roll out their respective updates. Unfortunately, that will no longer include New World’s Season of the Guardian as Amazon Game Studios pushes back the season launch indefinitely for more work and fine-tuning based on feedback gathered from testers.
“To better address your feedback on the upgraded combat & animation system as well as issues identified through the PTR and internal tests, Season 5 will be delayed,” Amazon announced. “It was apparent from your feedback following the first PTR update that some fine tuning was needed with the Upgraded Combat & Animation System (aka Slayer Script). While your reports helped us identify many of the bugs and issues, we will continue to test and improve this system for Season 5.”
In the meantime, the team continues to work on the season update and have already made various adjustments to the PTR build with a particular focus on perk balance. Those include tweaks to the Invulnerability perk to keep healer and DPS classes in check and the Poison-Tipped perk to ensure that it only works with heavy melee attacks. Nature’s Blessing, however, will remain untouched. They’re also working on issues with the cooking system, combat and animation, and controller support.
While the community is naturally miffed by the delay, Amazon maintains its commitment to only releasing updates when they’re well and truly ready even if it means postponing their release.
