Nexon, the South Korean gaming giant behind MapleStory and Dungeon Fighter Online, announced today that they partnered with BitPay to accept crypto payments (Bitcoin, Ethereum, Doge, etc) for in-game microtransactions across most of their games.

“Nexon listens closely to feedback from our players, including the many who have requested we include cryptocurrencies as a form of in-game payment,” said Nexon America General Manager Kenny Chang. “Effective immediately we are pleased to offer this innovative payment feature for our players.”

While I doubt many players with actually use crypto to make payments in Nexon games, crypto as a payment method is slowly gaining wider and wider adoption. Seeing Nexon embrace crypto in their games shouldn't come as a big surprise as the company purchased $100 million worth of Bitcoin back in April, 2021 as an investment; they paid an average price of $58,226 per bitcoin back then (Bitcoin is ~$48,000 today).
