Nexon might just be one of the few video game companies that hasn’t faced financial challenges this year. The company’s Q3 2023 financial report shows a whopping 40% revenue increase compared to the same quarter last year. This is the sixth consecutive quarter that the South Korean video game publisher reported double-digit revenue growth, and it looks like the streak won’t be ending soon.

The report attributes the increased revenue to the strong performance of FC Online and MapleStory even as its mobile titles see diminishing sales.

“MapleStory demonstrated once again Nexon’s unprecedented ability to deliver consistent and robust growth from its massive Virtual Worlds,” Nexon reports. “Now in its 20th year, MapleStory grew an incredible 46% yearover-year in Q3. With our Q4 guidance, MapleStory’s annual revenue is now 3 times bigger than it was only 5 years ago.”

“[…] We think the future of MapleStory Mobile is also bright,” the studio added. “During the quarter we launched MapleStory M in China, and it has been performing better than our internal expectations.”

Nexon is also expecting The Finals to usher in another period of growth for the company when the free-to-play battle royale shooter officially launches, if the community’s initial response is any indication. According to the studio, the game was downloaded 7.5 million times during its recently concluded global open beta test. The team has yet to lock in a date for the game’s release but we’ll be sure to let you know as soon as they do.

Meanwhile, there’s been a changing of the guard at Nexon as Owen Mahoney steps down as CEO. Nexon Korea’s Junghun Lee has been appointed as the new CEO and President as Mahoney stays on as Senior Advisor and a member of the board.
