Nodiatis Is Attempting A Comeback Via Steam And Mobile

Nodiatis has been out for years as a browser game, originally running exclusively as a Java applet before recently introducing an HTML5 client. The old-school MMORPG is developed by Glitchless, the company that once sought to create the ambitious sandbox MMORPG Dawn. After years of continued updates, the company is now trying to get Nodiatis through Greenlight and raise the funds necessary to create desktop, Android, and iOS clients via Kickstarter.
Nodiatis' pitch starts as follows.
Modern MMOs are missing something. Somewhere along the way, game developers realized that appealing to the masses meant forsaking the heart and soul of classic RPGs - intricate character development - and focusing instead on graphics and simplicity of gameplay. Nodiatis is the antithesis to this modern paradigm.
The game features 26 classes and over 200 skills. There are no skill trees and players must choose skills wisely in order to become powerful. In addition to traditional PvE and PvP gameplay, characters can become "permanent player killers," characters that can "kill and steal items from anyone" at the cost of risking permanent death should they ever be killed.
The Kickstarter has a $25,000 goal set and Glitchless has raised $900 in right around 48 hours. The minimum pledge is $25 and nets you 6 Time Cards for the game. Higher pledge levels offer various other in-game items, the most interesting of which is a custom portrait for $1000. Overall, however, the rewards are fairly unimpressive.
