Fenix Fire Entertainment has fired up the Osiris: New Dawn “Fires of Industry” update which introduces a whole host of new features, content, and major improvements to the open world sci-fi survival MMO, including a new and visually-improved planet Zer.

“The planet of Zer has not only been remastered from previous versions but has become vastly upgraded. Visually, we’re using our most advanced terrain tech, complete with lava flows, atmospheric effects, ground texture variety/detail, and wasteland areas. All the creatures on Zer have been completely upgraded as well, using our latest AI systems to bring these creatures to life.”

Aside from a prettier looking planet Zer, players also now have access to the Deep Terrain Drill that makes it easier to extract resources from the ground. The drill, however, causes seismic disturbances that may attract nearby creatures to the site.

Players can also now use Space Stations to travel to distant planets, stay in low orbit, and act as a safe haven for intrepid space explorers. Ship docking has also been implemented, which means that players can now use their ships to shuttle supplies to and from the planet’s surface. The team warns players that the Ship Docking feature is in its most basic form and is still a work in progress. A dock module and docking interface will be added in the future.

But wait, there’s more! The Fires of Industry update also introduces the new Species System, bringing a variety of new subspecies that players will have to face off against. “Creatures have mutated into many subspecies, each with its individual strengths and weaknesses, furthering combat strategy and variety,” explained Fenix Fire. “Some can even spit fluids, which can be a devastating advantage in combat. Be careful out there!”

New underground caves have also been added to Aziel, Lutari and Zer, along with strange new plants, new mineral art, improved map and radar systems, and the new fully-upgradable Buggie. “A durable, speedy, and inexpensive vehicle with sufficient cargo capacities. The Buggie is the first vehicle to allow for upgradability, allowing you to expand its capabilities to accommodate your needs.”

The update also comes with an exhaustive list of smaller improvements, changes, and fixes. The full release notes can be found on the Osiris: New Dawn Steam Page if you want to get into the details.
