Osiris: New Dawn’s Massive Discovery Update Is Now Live
Fenix Fire Entertainment has just released Discovery, the biggest Osiris: New Dawn update to date. The massive update introduces the new Discovery System which allows players to obtain more information about any resource type found in the game and the type of resources players can extract from them.
“Everything you observe on your adventures can now be discovered. Far more than a simple achievement, the Discovery System actually unlocks all the various resources any found resource will yield. Essentially, each weapon or tool used on a resource may yield a different item, allowing for far more scientific exploration of the solar system and all of its life forms.”
The update includes the new Salvaging system which gives players the ability to find, commandeer, repair, and salvage lost droids, vehicles, and structures. According to the devs, the new system will make it possible to acquire high-level items earlier in the game, which should help increase the chances of survival and offer another path to sustainability.
In addition to the new gathering systems, players will now be able to build their own low-orbiting space stations using various modules that can be interconnected in any combination or layout. Each module also has its own purpose, such as powering the space station, crafting, and storage.
Players can also expect to see a ton of changes and improvements, including HUD-based GPS resource information filtering, a new skill tree, new tools, new resource types, a re-balanced economy, new creatures, combat improvements, the removal of build gates, and much more.
“The build gates are gone, which we felt was arbitrary and grindy. Instead are structure prerequisites which we feel make more sense and are more meaningful. For instance, if a Utility requires power the build will require a power source prior to building. This creates a natural gameplay progression that is for more free and branching, while at the same time allowing each Structure built to have all the necessary Utilities to function when built.”
