Overwatch Adding Deathmatch Modes

Objective based gameplay helps built team spirit. But sometimes you just want to frag people. To help meet that itch, Overwatch is adding two new game modes: Deathmatch and Team Deathmatch.

Both modes ditch payloads and control points, allowing players to focus on getting as many kills as possible. The free for all mode (Deathmatch) has a maximum of 8 players while Team Deathmatch maintains the standard 6v6 format.

In a ~6 minute developer update, game director Jeff Kaplan explains that while the developers didn't feel comfortable adding Deathmatch to Quick Play or Competitive, the Arcade has given them far more flexibility.

The FFA version of Deathmatch comes with a brand new map called Château Guillard. Located in southeast France, the map is Widowmaker's family estate. Eager players who want a sneak peak at the new modes and map can check out the Public Test Region where they are now available.
