Sega's Phantasy Star Online 2 (PSO2) officially launched globally in English just a few weeks ago and is already planning several major updates, the first of which is the Episode 4 update which is set to launch sometime in August. The game launched with episodes 1-3 and is planning to release episodes 4, 5, and 6 later this year. Episode 5 is set to launch in Q3 while episode 6 is slated for Q4.

These updates aren't exactly new as they've been available in the Japanese version for years, but the Western English version of Phantasy Star Online 2 is catching up quickly to the Japanese version. According to the game's wiki: Reincarnation: EPISODE 4 was released in 2016; Heroes: EPISODE 5 was released in 2017; Stars: EPISODE 6 was released in 2019. By the end of 2020 the Western version of PSO2 will almost be almost fully caught up with the Japanese version.

Another bit of exciting PSO2 news is that the game will be launching outside of the Microsoft store soon. The end of the Episode 4 trailer states "Get it on Microsoft and other PC platforms soon". No word on when this is happening, but I suspect the game will be available on both Steam and the Epic Games store soon.

About Episode 4 (From the Wiki):

  • Episode 4: Two years after the end of the previous episode, the player character finally wakes up from their cold sleep. ARKS has undergone an administrative overhaul, with the player and Matoi sitting on a special position called the Guardian. Additionally, ARKS has discovered a planet that resides in another dimension, which is none other than Earth. However, this discovery brought new cases onto the table, such as the sharp influx of new ARKS members and the sudden appearance of enigmatic creatures known as Phantoms on the planet.
