Pixel Starships On Kickstarter

SavySoda's 8-Bit Sci-Fi Crew Based Space Ship Simulation MMORPG (phew...) , Pixel Starships, has launched its bid onto Kickstarter.  The studio has announced that the game is roughly 50% done and needs a bit of extra help in order to add in new features and systems that they want to have for the final release.   According to the video and description, SavySoda has drawn a lot of inspiration from Faster Than Light, X-COM and Eve Online to create the game.

The game features a cut-away "ant hill" view of the spaceship, and requires crew and systems management to maintain your ship's journey through space.  Players can be seen running crew through to different rooms to triage combat situations, and even beaming onto the enemy ships to take the fight into Space Opera shootouts.  This will all occur in a persistent open-world but not many details of the actual multiplayer aspect have been released yet.

They've also mentioned something about in-game currency called "StarBux" that can be purchased to speed up ship development, but have announced that they will not result in a pay-to-win scenario.  These currencies can also be earned in game.

The Kickstarter includes pledge amounts and equivalent rewards ranging from only $6 for a digital copy of the game, all the way to $7,695 for Co-Producer status which allows you to create an entire civilization.  The game is set to release on iPhone and iPad in December this year, and PC sometime in 2016.
