PlanetSide 2 Launches on PS4
PlanetSide 2 from The DayBreak Game Company launched on Playstation 4 on June 23, 2015 and promised an eventual release on Xbox One. The European servers for the game have endured long downtimes and hiccups since its launch, likely due to the spike in players. PlanetSide 2 can be played without a PlayStation Plus subscription too - anyone with a PS4 and an internet connection can download and play immediately.
The trend of free to play PC games launching on console continues. Neverwinter from Arc Games was the first free to play MMORPG on Xbox One and has seen over 2 million registered users on the console version since its debut. Smite also embraced consoles with an XBox One release. Expect to see more console versions of various free to play games in the future.
