Rappelz Epic 9.4 To Be Released In The West, Hardcore Server Shutting Down

WEBZEN announced today that Rappelz Epic 9.4 will be released in the West later this year. The expansion will add a new zone that contains new items, new quests, and "exotic" monsters. Preparations to bring the expansion over have begun and development is underway.

According to a post on the WEBZEN forums that details the patch as it is on the Korean Test Server, the new zone is either called "the Island of Forgotten Gods" or "the Forgotten Island of the Gods"—both names are used, but the patch notes appear to be machine translated so one of the names is almost certainly a mistranslation. The island is visited via boat and players can only obtain one boarding pass per day. It appears that you can only remain on the island for a total of 48 minutes and that the goal is to find and take down a boss monster within that time. The post also lists the new items and quests that are being added in the update.

WEBZEN has also announced that they will be shutting down their hardcore server sometime in the near future. Players can apply for free server transfers during the month of July.
