Rend Will Feature A Flexible Multiclassing System

When you finally get to play Rend, you will have options in regards to what class you play and how it is built. When you hit level two, you will begin to accrue talent points with each level; these can be spent on the game's "class paths," which are talent trees without branches. The game will feature four class paths, which represent its four classes: Assassin, Mystic, Soldier, Survivalist. Players can have points in two of these four class paths and, at some point, they must choose a primary and secondary class.

What makes the system interesting is that, as is given as an example, an assassin/soldier will be played differently than a soldier/assassin. Furthermore, players can unlock higher tiers within their class paths by spending five points on their current tier. It's a system that sounds fairly deep on paper, but we will have to see how it turns out in practice.

In regards to classes, each one is designed to have both "a benefit and a drawback"; it's noted that these can sometimes both be within the same "talent tier." The example given is that the Assassin's first talent tier will increase their run speed, but also increase stamina drain.
