Viking-Themed MMORPG ‘Rune’ Launches Into Steam Early Access In September

Human Head Studios’ classic single-player Viking hack-and-slash game Rune has been reborn into a full-fledged open world MMORPG bearing the same name. The studio recently announced that the game will be heading into Steam Early Access in September.

“As a hardened Viking warrior, Rune players will align with their chosen god as they pillage villages for powerful weapons and armor, complete quests for their deity and receive blessings of strength and magic. Your quest is simple – destroy Loki, but you needn’t do it alone. Team up with your Viking allies to gain the benefits of shared experience and the strength that only comes in numbers.”

Human Head co-founder Chris Rhinehart said that the game was designed to appeal to old and new fans alike. “Rune is a brutal and challenging game set during the Norse apocalypse,” said Rhinehart. “We hope that all the blood, heart, and soul we put in the game shows as you play and dismember your enemies to take their blood, heart, and soul.”
