Rust Records Its Highest Player Concurrency In 7 Years

rust gas mask bannerRust, Facepunch Studios’ survival sandbox game, has seen a sudden surge of players and has hit its all-time peak concurrency since the game launched into Early Access back in 2013. SteamDB shows that the game peaked at just over 134k players on January 4th and is continuing to show high player numbers as of this writing.

The sudden influx of players may be attributed to the current pandemic as well as big name streamers like Shroud and xQc returning to the game although the latter may have had played a bigger part. The game’s Twitch viewership has skyrocketed over the past few days, peaking at more than 1.2 million viewers on January 3rd.
