Sandbox MMO Worlds Adrift Shutting Down in July, 2019

Bossa Studios, the company behind Worlds Adrift, announced today that their sandbox MMO will be shutting down sometime in July. The game's closure shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone keeping an eye on the game's playerbase through Steamcharts, as its only been averaging ~150 players online over the last 30 days. Anyone who purchased the game in the last 30 days is eligible for a refund, but everyone else is out of luck.

I had a lot of fun with this one so I'll be sad to see it go, but like I said, it's not surprising. It seems like the only sandbox survival games that can maintain any kind of playerbase is Ark: Survival Evolved and Rust. There's been countless sandbox survival games over the years, but only Ark and Rust seem to be thriving.
