Radiant Worlds announced yesterday that SkySaga Alpha 9 is here, bringing with it Lumostone, new gear, and new block types. Players can now use Lumostone to add interactive elements to islands that they own—they can even create traps. New gear and a revamped combat system promise to make combat more interesting. "New unstable, sticky, or slippery blocks" look to deter you along your adventure. The tutorial and the City of First Light have also seen full revamps, getting you into the actual game faster and making it easier to find what you need in the city.

You can see the new content in action in the trailer below. Below that is another video in which one of the developers talks about the current implementation of Lumostone and how it may change in the future.

You can find the full set of patch notes here.

Matt's Take:

SkySaga is a game that I've kept tabs on, but haven't really played much. It falls into the same category as Trove, but is fairly different at the same time. I didn't invest much time into customizing my island last time I played, but the ability to add interactive elements is fairly cool. I am also looking forward to checking out the changes they made to combat, as the original combat system definitely suffered from what I would call "Minecraft syndrome," in that it wasn't particularly interesting, but it did the job. I may very well have to try the game out again.
